ENTROPIA is an ambient, electronic band formed in Rome, Italy in 1996. The band has experienced several line-up changes, with producers, and principal composers Amptek and Dr.Lops being the two constant members.
Entropia are often labelled as ambient, but they usually resist being typecast into any one particular genre.
Their work covers most areas of electronic music, such as ambient dub, funk, trip-hop, italian soundtracks, psychedelia and often involves extreme experimentation; for example they have, since the turn of the millennium, experimented with techno and electro under their Auto.Vox alias.
In addition to music composition, their interests have covered a number of areas including dance, cinema, painting, video, computer graphics.
The band cooperated with other artists as John B. Arnold, Fabiana Yvonne Lugli Martinez, Mauro Tiberi, Daniele Amenta, Daniele Pomo, Davide Pentassuglia, Roberto Laneri, Eugenio Vatta, Carlo Martinelli, Prince Faster and many others.
Side projects of the group include Auto.vox, Ziqqurat Vertigo and Exit Strategy.
Line-up: Hydrosnake (aka Dr.Lops, keyboards), Amptek (guitar, synths, visuals), Emiliano Cappelli (electric bass, rhythm guitar), Biagio Orlandi (tenor and soprano saxophone), Davide Pentassuglia (drums)
